Embassy Suites Running "Uber Fan" Giveaway Contest

This story about an Embassy Suites giveaway contest was sent to us by Maryellen Conroy:

Throughout the month of September, Embassy Suites Hotels is bringing “fans” back to Facebook. But don’t expect to find everyday run-of-the-mill fans on the Embassy Facebook page.  These fans do more than click a button to show their love – or “like.”

These fans are entering the Embassy Suites Über Fan Contest.  The all-suites hotel brand wants to reward one grand prize winner with the tools to take their passion on the road: a $10,000 cash prize, 20 free nights at any Embassy Suites and an iPhone 4 to document the experience.

Local Young People Remember 9-11

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA) - "Thank you for serving our country, I feel very safe with you out there," read a fifth grader at D.C.'s Murch Elementary where children are writing letters to soldiers, marines, and first responders, thanking them for their service on September 11, 2001.

"That day was a horrible day, lots of lives were lost," wrote another.

Student Government President and fifth grader Justin Atwood said, "We were too young to comprehend what was happening. I myself was only one. We didn't realize the effort that they made. They risked their lives for your country, and that's a good thing. We want to tell them so."

Each letter will be distributed by the non profit D. C. Cares. At Virginia's Langley High School, students made a vivid display with 2,977 flags.
