Residents Reminded to Lock Up Doors and Windows

This was sent to us by Loudoun Sheriff:

Loudoun County, VA: In light of a series of burglaries and attempted burglaries in neighboring Fairfax and Prince William County, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Crime Prevention Unit and Criminal Investigations Division are reminding residents to lock their doors and windows; this includes garage doors. 

In Fairfax County serial burglaries have been reported throughout the Sully, Fair Oaks, Reston, Mason and McLean police districts. Similar incidents (burglaries, attempted burglaries & larcenies from vehicles) were reported in the Haymarket area in Prince William County.    

Counterfeit Merchandise Sold in Local Thrift Store

Fairfax County Police Department, along with the United States Office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Blazer Investigations, recently seized thousand dollars worth of counterfeit merchandise.

The investigations began this past winter with a complaint from a customer who was sold counterfeit goods from the “Unique Thrift Store” in the 2900 block of Gallows Road.  Shortly after the complaint, Fairfax County Police Department launched an undercover investigation and several search warrants were executed.

An estimated $841 thousand dollars worth of “Knock-off” designer brand shoes, boots, purses, sunglasses, DVDs, CDs, jewelry, perfume, and clothing were seized as a result of the investigation. It has been determined that the goods were manufactured and shipped from China, and once inside the U.S.
