McLean Family Fun This Fall

Summer, the time of year when families spend time together (no homework, sports, the daylight lasts into the night) is coming to an end again. Every year, families pack up the deck furniture and slug away to the fall routine, missing the time spent together. Back to school items have been in the stores since Independence Day, and the sun is setting earlier every evening. What can a family do to carry the summer feeling through the year? Especially when everyone is watching their budget and a night at the movies can run $100 if you include snacks?

Washington Humane Society needs you to help save more lives than ever!

WHS is one of 49 shelters nationwide taking part in a friendly competition focused on increasing adoptions. As part of the “Save More Lives: ASPCA $100K Challenge”, the shelter who adopts the most animals during the months of August, September and October this year over their adoption numbers from those months last year, will win the grand prize of $100,000. Winning the grand prize would be amazing; however, the most important outcome of the Challenge is finding more homes for more of DC’s animals than ever before.

Office for Children Participates in National Dance Day

From Fairfax County Department of Family Services:

The Office for Children recently joined others around the world in dancing their way to good health. Nuclear physicists in Switzerland, deaf hip hoppers in Singapore, adults in assisted living facilities, surprised wedding guests, and thousands of other "movers and shakers" participated in National Dance Day 2011.
