Srinagesh Paluvoi, M.D. is offering free asthma screenings on Sat., May 17 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Gainesville District Volunteer Fire Department on 14450 John Marshall Highway in Gainesville, Va., in honor of National Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month. In addition to the free asthma screenings from Dr. Paluvoi, attendees can learn summer fire safety tips, get their car seats checked and get a tour of a fire truck from Gainesville, Va. firefighters.  For more information, go to www.vasneezers.com.

“Asthma can be debilitating if not treated properly,” said Srinagesh Paluvoi, M.D., allergist and owner of Allergy and Asthma Affiliates of Gainesville, Lansdowne and Falls Church, Va. “Many people don’t realize that they have asthma, until they end up in an emergency room, which is why I’m a strong advocate for preventive screenings and treatments,” said Dr. Paluvoi.

Prince William County Arts Council and the Hylton Performing Arts Center of Manassas, Va. are hosting their fourth annual ARTS ALIVE Festival, a free, family-fun event that features local, Prince William County dancers, singers, artists, and performances, on Sat., May 3 from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Hylton Performing Arts Center, at 10960 George Mason Circle Manassas, Va. If hip-hop, tap, jazz, ballet, guitar, percussion and theatre are passions for your child, check out the many summer programs at Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA) of Alexandria and Lorton, Va. MSA brings instructors from around the U.S, offering top-of-the-line instruction and camps to their youngest students, to teens polishing their craft.  Registration is open now for summer classes starting in July. Lorton, Va.-based Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA), a non-profit performing arts academy, is hosting their annual Spring Benefit Concert on Sun., Apr. 6 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at The George Washington Masonic National Memorial at 101 Callahan Drive in Alexandria, Va. There will be performances by Metropolitan Youth Ballet, Metropolitan Youth Tap Ensemble, MSA’s Impulse Jazz Company, MSA Academy vocalists and live music by local musicians, like Voices of Liberty. Tickets are $75 per person or $100 per couple with proceeds benefitting MSA’s Alexandria studio’s Black Box Theater Project. The MSA Benefit Concert ends at 5:30 p.m. with a reception immediately following at the George Washington Masonic Temple from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Concert tickets include entrance to the reception.
