METROPOLITAN SCHOOL of the ARTS’ STUDENTS AWARDED for ALL-STAR CAST

Ben Cherington and Kylie Levy of Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA) Performing Arts Academy of Lorton, Va. and Alexandria, Va. were recently recognized for All-Star Cast by the Virginia Theatre Association Conference for their performances in I Never Saw Another Butterfly. This was the first time Metropolitan School of the Arts had participated in the conference. Cherington, an 11th grader from Burke, Va., and Levy, a 10th grader from Fairfax, Va. are students at Metropolitan School of the Arts. For more information, go to www.metropolitanarts.org.

Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA) also earned the 2014 Virginia Theatre Association Conference award for Best Costume Design and was recognized for Staging, as well as received an honorable mention for Best Play, I Never Saw Another Butterfly.

The four-course dinner includes the 90 Min IPA with Meat and Cheese Platter; Namaste with Namaste Drunken Smoked Bacon Mussels, includes garlic, shallots, scallions, dijon crème fraiche and crostini; Punkin Ale with Four-Cheese Ravioli, served with wilted spinach, diced tomatoes, parmesan, creamy alfredo and pumpkin seeds; Indian Brown Ale with All Natural Braised Beef Ragu and Butternut Squash Gnocchi, served with carrots, celery, arugula, parmesan and olive oil ; and Aged-World Wide Stout with Homemade Bread Pudding, includes chocolate, cherries and crème anglaise.

MANASSAS CITY HIRES NEW REFUSE and RECYCLING COORDINATOR
City of Manassas Public Works and Utilities welcomes Monica Boehringer of Fredericksburg, Va. as their new refuse and recycling coordinator. Boehringer is responsible for managing the City’s refuse and recycling contract and collections, facilitating community outreach and education for recycling, waste reduction and stormwater, and managing programs, such as Adopt-A-Street, Adopt-A-Stream, Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Days and the Citizen’s Advisory Committee on Solid Waste. Monza of Old Town Manassas, Va. is hosting a four-course Devil’s Backbone Brewery fall beer dinner, featuring beers like Vienna Lager, Kilt Flasher, Gold Leaf Lager and 4-point Pale Ale on Thurs., Nov. 6 at 6:30 p.m. for $65 inclusive. For reservations, go to www.eatmonza.com.

Carmellos and Monza are supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month, from Th., Oct. 2 to Oct. 31. Carmello’s will offer their ‘Go Pink’ dish of Lamb Meatballs with Fettuccine with 10 percent of the dish being donated to the American Cancer Society, while Monza is giving away 10 percent of all their pizza sales throughout October. MANASSAS UTILITIES NOW OFFERS E-BILLING TO ITS CUSTOMERS

City of Manassas residents can now use a more convenient way of receiving and paying their utility bill online. They have the option to pay by electronic check for free or pay a nominal fee to use their credit card. As of Sept. 1, the City of Manassas had more than 800 customers that have paid bills online, and almost 500 are using e-billing, enabling electronic notifications of due dates. Customers choosing to pay their bills by mail or in-person, can continue to do so.

For those customers who register for e-billing now through Nov. 30, they will be automatically entered for a raffle to win an Ipod Nano.

On the heels of judging the global 61st Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in France as one of two US judges in the Design category, Pum Lefebure, co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of Design Army, just released her first swimwear collection, Swim At Your Own Risk, in collaboration with Karla Colletto. A capsule collection for Colletto’s Cruise 2015 line and Lefebure’s first venture into fashion design, the five-piece graphic swimsuits and beachwear debuted at the Miami Swim Show on July 19th.
