CHRISTMAS EVE and NYE’s DINNER at CARMELLOS; Kids Under 10 Eat FREE

Carmello’s of Historic Manassas, Va. is offering a Christmas Eve dinner, Thurs., Dec. 24 from 3 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and New Year’s Eve a la carte dinner on Thurs., Dec. 31 with seatings from 4:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. (Two-hour seatings are booked for parties of two to six people; larger parties have two and a half hour seatings). Complimentary Portuguese sparkling wine is served with all seatings. Late seatings receive party favorites if they stay until midnight. Children 10 and younger can eat free from the kids’ menu. Pack Light, Pack Right While Traveling by Air This Fall

Fall is a time when millions of people around the country begin to make their travel plans. In fact, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation, the busiest travel times of the year are just around the corner, which include Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s. There are some great reasons why packing light will help make your trip easier and more enjoyable. And the good news is that it’s not difficult to do, either.

“If you want to pack right when you travel then you really need to focus on packing light,” explains Tina Aldatz, chief executive officer of Savvy Travelers. “There’s much less hassle and stress when you pack light and stick to the basics. You can put your focus on your travel, rather than having all of your attention go to dragging around way too much luggage.”

Monza is presenting a four-course dinner that includes: Greeter Beer, Vienna Lager with a meat and cheese platter; Pilot Brau Czech Pilsener with calamari fritti, lightly battered squid with spicy marinara; Cranberry Gose, roasted butternut squash, curried pears, candied walnuts, Crème Fraiche, sage; Aged 16 Point Imperial IPA with all natural braised beef ragu and butternut squash gnocchi, arugula, Parmesan, olive oil; and Cocoa Danzig Porter with Cocoa Danzig Porter Ice Cream with chocolate-covered bacon, homemade ice cream, bacon, and chocolate.

Carmello’s is hosting a J. Lohr Winery Wine Dinneron Thurs., Sept. 17 at 6:30 p.m. for $80 inclusive, per person. The four-course dinner will feature J. Lohr Winery wines that complement dishes from Carmello’s new fall menu. For reservations, go to www.carmellos.com.  

The wine dinner includes four courses: 2013 J. Lohr Carol’s Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc with insalata frutti di mare, chilled shrimp, scallops, calamari, lime juice, garlic, onions, bell peppers; 2013 J. Lohr Estates Falcon’s Perch Pinot Noir, quinoa black bean salad, quinoa, black beans, peppers, red onions, cilantro; 2011 J. Lohr Hilltop Cabernet Sauvignon Costeleta De Porco with marinated pork chops, sautéed onions, peppers, house fried potatoes, zucchini, yellow squash; and 2013 J. Lohr Estates Los Osos Merlot with chocolate lava cake.

Music Theatre Workshop to Kick Off at Metropolitan School of the Arts/Broadway Instructors

Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA) is bringing together an all-star instructor ensemble from around the U.S. to provide a Music Theatre Workshop tailored to provide real-world experience by teaching students the integration of drama, voice, movement and choreographed dance from July 13 to July 24 for ages 8 years-old to 18 years-old for $900 and a junior class from July 20 to 24 for ages 6 years to 7 years old for $500.
