MONZA MENU ITEM HONORS LOCAL WAR VETERAN; DONATES $1000 to USMC WOUNDED WARRIOR REGIMENT

 

Monza and Carmello’s of Old Town Manassas, Va. became almost a second home to retired Col. Jack Lilley II, a long-time Catharpin resident, retired United States Marine Corp (USMC) and a war veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. After being a regular customer at Carmellos since 1978, the ‘Jack Special’ was born on Monza’s menu, with $1 of every order going to Lilley’s favorite charities:  the USMC Wounded Warrior Regiment and The Freedom Museum. Metropolitan Fine Arts Center (MFAC) of Alexandria, Va. recently hosted its annual Spring Recital, featuring their senior students with piano and musical theatre performances at the The Artisphere in Arlington, Va. The Center’s high school graduates are moving on to college, including

Hermela Solomo, joining the High Tech Dance Team at Virginia Tech, Rosie Matthews going to Pace University in NYC, studying commercial dance, Gabi Stapula, also to attend Pace University in NYC for musical theatre, Arianna Bhambhani to attend Virginia Tech, Brianna Latrash, heading to University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music,  Emily DiMaggio attending University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Alexandra Rosenberg going to The College of William and Mary and Ara Snyder attending Pennsylvania State University. Metropolitan Fine Arts Center (MFAC) Youth Tap Ensemble will perform at the 5th Annual DC Tap Festival All Star Concert at 8 p.m. on Sat., Mar. 23 at Duke Ellington Theatre, 3500 R Street., NW, Washington, D.C. All tickets can be purchased online at www.dctapfestival.com.

Metro Fine Arts Center Donates $5000 To Make-A-Wish Foundation

Metropolitan Fine Arts Center (MFAC) of Alexandria, Va. raised $5000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, after pledging $1 of every ticket sold from their Nutcracker performances.

“We are honored to be able to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which has a personal significance to us, as we lost one of our young students a few years ago to cancer,” said Melissa Dobbs, founder and executive director of Metropolitan Fine Arts Center of Alexandria and Fairfax Station, Va. “We appreciate the support of our community in helping us give back to an organization that inspires and lifts the spirits of those struggling with illness,” said Dobbs.
