Salon Daniel Collects Food for the Needy

Salon Daniel of McLean, Va. is now collecting food and canned goods for Share, Inc. of McLean, Va. now through Dec. 31, 2010. They are also collecting cash donations/check donations, payable to Share, Inc. upon checkout. The salon has a food basket located at the salon’s front desk, and encourages all patrons to contribute their canned goods. Share, Inc. meets the emergency needs of the less fortunate in the McLean, Great Falls, Pimmit Hills and surrounding areas.  For more information about Salon Daniel, call 703.893.5000.

Capital One Game: McLean vs. Langley

The McLean High School football team is experiencing its best season since 1995. The Highlanders are currently 8-1 on the season. This week they finish their regular season schedule against cross-town rival, Langley.

We’re pleased to let you know that admission to this Friday’s varsity football game at Langley High School against the Saxons is FREE to all visitors until capacity is reached. That’s right, it’s free. So come out and support your local high school football team, Friday, November 5th.

Admission to the game is being provided by Capital One Bank and Fairfax County Public Schools as part of Capital One Banks Game Night initiative. Capital One will also be sponsoring an interactive tailgate before the game, as well as great music, fun games, and exciting prizes too. The fun starts at 5 p.m. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. See you at the game!

Firefighters Help Bring New Winter Coats to Kids

From Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department:

Fairfax County firefighters, in cooperation with the Coats for Kids Foundation, Progressive Firefighters of Fairfax County, Inc., and the Fairfax County Professional Firefighters and Paramedics, will collect and distribute new winter coats for children and youths through high school age, Thursday, October 28, 2010, 11 a.m., at Penn Daw Fire and Rescue Station 11, 6624 Hulvey Terrace, Alexandria, Virginia.

Through generous support and donations from organizations and businesses, it is anticipated that approximately 1,000 youths and their families will benefit. This is the fifth year firefighters and the department have sponsored this community event.

Celebrate Fairfax

Get ready to have some fun! Come out to the Celebrate Fall for Fairfax event this Saturday at Fairfax Government Center. Fall for Fairfax will run from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Activities include a train ride, a pumpkin patch, petting zoo, inflatables and several kid's performances. There will also be exhibits on education, sport and fitness, public saftey, personal health and the environment.
