MCLEAN, VIRGINIA – All of us feel “stressed out” at one time or another.  The problem is it can have a huge impact on our emotions and even our physical health. With Christmas and New Year’s just around the corner, millions of people are hurrying to get shopping done, presents mailed, and menus planned.  Santa’s “To-Do List” couldn’t be longer!  From lack of sleep to the emotional overload of extended visits with family, the stressful onslaught of the holidays really can take its toll on the mind, body and soul.  But you don’t have to let stress get the best of you, now is the time to plan your course of action!

2010 Holiday Gift Ideas - All Under $30

It's time for holiday shopping, but don't stress because I did a little work for you already. Here are some holiday gift ideas for the whole family and they are all under $30! Most of these purchases can be made without even going into an actual store. That's right, you can buy these gifts from the mall carts in Tyson's Corner. I know you can usually find some pretty abstract items from mall carts, such as smokeless cigarettes or several versions of eyebrow threading, but today in Tyson's Corner I came across a few fabulous gift ideas.

-For the little ones: Stuffed animal pillows. Who wouldn't love one of these? They might not just be for the little ones. These pillows come in pretty much animal (pigs, lady bugs, frogs..you name it!) and are $16.99 for the smallest, $21.99 for the medium sized one, and $24.99 for the largest one.

Andre Agassi Makes Appearance in Tyson's Corner

Besides being a world champion tennis player, Andre Agassi is a snowboarder, a cook, “20 + 20 years old,” and a humanitarian. Agassi appeared today at Fink's Jewelers in Tyson’s Corner to speak about his charity, the Andre Agassi Foundation for Education. This foundation has contributed $150 million to educational initiatives to date.

Agassi played in his first professional tournament when he was just 15 years old. What is the first thing that comes to Agassi’s mind when he thinks about tennis? Well, first of all “physical pain,” he joked after playing last night. But what tennis truly brings to mind for Agassi is the word “grateful.” He is grateful for what tennis taught him about himself, and he encouraged the children to push themselves in whatever they do because it will make them better people.

Briar Patch Donates Rooms for Veteran's Day

Reprinted with permission from Ashburn Patch -- Briar Patch Bed & Breakfast Inn in scenic Middleburg plans to offer free rooms to veterans as part of a nationwide promotion this week to honor those who have served our country.

B&Bs and inns across the country are providing free rooms on Wednesday, Nov. 10, in observance of Veterans Day on Nov. 11 to honor servicemen and women now serving or who have previously served time with one of the country's military forces.

Two B&B owners started the program in 2009. Both were members of the West Virginia B&B Association and this year the veteran program has expanded to include 49 states, 8 international locations and more than 850 Inns.
